What to Expect on your Initial Virtual Visit for Elbow Pain

Did you know that over 40% of isolated extremity symptoms actually come from the spine? That’s why every virtual physical therapy evaluation begins by checking the spine to make sure your symptoms aren’t being misattributed to where you feel them. Dr. Alex will start by going over your medical history and then ask you about your symptoms, including what makes them better or worse.

He’ll perform a mechanical assessment, which includes checking your baseline range of motion, the quality of your movements, and any pain or limitations you might have. We’ll also look at spinal movements to see if they impact your symptoms. After that, Dr. Alex will have you do some repeated movements of the affected joint to see how they influence your baseline symptoms. This comprehensive assessment will help identify any mechanical issues in the elbow and surrounding soft tissue.

 

Once Dr. Alex wraps up this thorough evaluation, he’ll share some helpful self-treatment tips and provide you with a personalized exercise program tailored just for you!

HOW IT WORKS

1. Schedule Your Free Consult

You self-schedule your Free Consult. At your consult, we’ll talk about your movement goals and any pain you’re experiencing and we’ll make sure motivPT is the right fit for you! We’ll then get you scheduled for your Body Assessment.

2. Your First Visit

Schedule your 30-minute Body Assessment and complete the Self Report you’ll be emailed upon scheduling. Log in to your HIPPA-compliant patient portal 5-10 mins before your visit. Be dressed in something you can move in!

3. Home Exercise Playlist

Start your 8-week program the next day with your first Home Exercise Playlist, which you’ll access through your patient portal or our PTEverywhere app. Your program will change each day with exercises cycling in and out, so logging in daily is important.

4. Virtual Check-ins

Schedule a 15-minute check-in (recommend 1-2 weeks after the Body Assessment). Know that if something comes up or if you’re not making expected gradual progress, you can schedule 15-minute check-ins anytime!

5. Stay Connected

We want to know how you’re doing and the patient message board is a great way to give us updates or seek clarification on less urgent issues.

HOW PAYMENT WORKS

All motivPT plans include 8-weeks of physical therapy or movement training, which means your physical therapy or movement training comes out to be $61 per week. A $75.00 deposit will be taken when you schedule your Body Assessment via credit card or HSA/Flex spending plan. Don’t worry if you need to reschedule your first visit for any reason, you can do so without any additional cost.

You’ll be provided with financing options that will work for you at intake. Payment can be accepted via credit card and HSA/Flex savings.

Once you’ve had your first Body Assessment, your official recovery plan will start, and your home exercise playlists (HEP) can be accessed via the patient portal or our PTEverywhere App. The remainder of the cost will be charged, minus the $75.00 deposit already paid. If you’re on a 3-month payment plan, your deposit will apply to your first month’s payment.

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

Because we are out of network with insurance companies, we aren’t limited by insurer restrictions and can offer 8-weeks of care at a price you would pay for 2-3 visits at most traditional clinics. Most customers have insurance plans that require them to pay $1,500-$5,000 in deductibles before insurance starts providing any coverage. In addition, insurance requires you to pay copays at every physical therapy visit, ranging from $30 to $80 per visit.

At motivPT, the price you see is the price you get; no copays, additional expenses, or hidden costs. You will also be provided a receipt for care, or “superbill,” following receipt of payment, which you can submit to insurance to apply toward your out-of-network benefits or reimbursement.
